Sligo Fine Gael councillor Thomas Walsh, Chairperson of the local authority’s Special Policy Committee on Environment and Infrastructure has welcomed the progression of four schemes under the Active Travel Programme.
• Ballygawley to Castledargan
• Coolaney to Rockfield
• Carrowroe to Cuilbeg
• Clarion Road
Barry Transportation, in partnership with Jennings O’Donovan were appointed to progress the schemes, through preliminary designs, statutory process, detailed design, tender and construction over the months ahead.
Councillor Walsh told Midwest News that these are all busy traffic routes which pose safety issues to cyclists, walkers and road users. “Work will now commence on preliminary design and I look forward to the schemes making progress”.
