€19.4 million in funding has been allocated to four Galway based research projects, according to Galway based Senator Sean Kyne.

The four projects are Vascusense, Heallntel, LILAC-IntelliSense and BioBlate.

Research work will be led by Galway based companies and Galway's Universities.

The projects involve research into new treatments for health conditions such as cardiovascular conditions and diabetes.

They will also look further into the side effects of chemotherapy, and the development of a new stent for heart conditions.

Senator Sean Kyne told Midwest news that this funding is "more important than ever in helping to keep Ireland at the cutting edge of research and development as well as for job creation."
