A wild bird is in recovery after being saved by a North Mayo farmer.

Micheál Clarke from Ballina found the wild Peregrine Falcon near Errew Abbey last month.

Mr Clarke brought the bird, which has been named Fiadh, to Mount Falcon estate where they were told to let him die due to the current avian flu epidemic.

Following a negative test for avian flu, the bird was brought to the aviary at the hotel and is now on the mend under the care of the estates falconer Daniel Gibbons.
