Sixteen Mayo Garda stations have been dealing with increased reports of crime compared with 2017.

However, according to the figures in the Irish Independent the number of incidents reported to Garda stations fell in seven stations in the county.

Achill, Balla, Ballina, Ballinrobe, Ballycroy, Ballyhaunis, Bangor-Erris, Cong, Crossmolina, Foxford, Kilkelly, Killala, Kilmaine, Kiltimagh, Knock and Newport Garda stations all recorded slight increases between 2017 and 2021.

However, Westport, Shrule, Swinford, Partry, Louisburgh, Ballindine, Castlebar, Charlestown and Keel Garda Stations all recorded decreases in reported incidents.

Glenamoy had the lowest reported number of crimes in the period, with just ten.

Castlebar Garda Station had the highest in the county with 766 reports, ahead of second placed Ballina at 491.
