Communities in South Mayo and Galway are in mourning following the death of Marie Pollard following a road traffic collision in Dublin City last week.
Marie Pollard nee Farragher, formerly from The Neale, was a sister of Father Stephen Farragher, Parish Priest of Ballyhaunis and Father Pat Farragher, Administrator at Tuam Cathedral.
It is understood that she had travelled from Galway on Wednesday morning last to attend an exhibition in Dublin City.
She was on foot when struck by a motorcyclist at the Beresford Place/Eden Quay junction beside Butt Bridge.
Emergency services attended the scene of the crash and she was taken to hospital, but she later died from the injuries sustained in the crash on Friday afternoon.
The driver of the motorbike did not require any medical treatment.
Mrs Pollard served as a staff nurse in Galway Hospital, working in theatre for many years.
Her Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
At yesterday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council, councillors extended their sympathy to Fr Stephen and Pat Farragher following the untimely death of their sister.
