The sixth edition of Clann Mhuiris, the annual journal of Claremorris Historical Society, will be published a week from today, Friday 11th November.

Well-known broadcaster, writer and publisher, Joe Byrne, will launch the publication at 8pm in Cúram, Claremorris, and refreshments will be served.

Clann Mhuiris will be available from all the usual outlets in Claremorris.  

This year’s edition features articles marking the 50th anniversary of the infamous double bombing of Claremorris Town Hall and the 40th anniversary of the 1982 All-Ireland Football Final refereed by P. J. McGrath and a team that included three Claremorris umpires.

Other articles include an account of the life of the patriot, P.J. Gordon of the Square; an examination of the businesses in Claremorris in the nineteenth century; Clanmorris under the Normans; the lost village of Kilcolman; the history of the Claremorris Open Art Exhibition; and a profile of the late Matt Cosgrove, who designed many of the best-known buildings in our town.

Priced at €10, it also features many rare photographs.
