New legislation around burning excessive amounts of turf is ridiculous and will be near impossible to implement.
That's according to leader of the rural Ireland organisation, Gerry Loftus.
New regulations on solid fuel were introduced on Monday which will no longer allow people to advertise turf to sell.
Yesterday, reports emerged that the legislation also states people may be fined or imprisoned for burning too much turf.
Gerry Loftus has branded the element of the regulations a joke and raised concern as to how much turf is too much turf to burn.
