Emergency services attended a house fire in County Roscommon overnight.

The blaze broke out shortly after midnight at a property in the Harristown area of Castlerea.

Gardai along with the fire services attended the scene along the Roscommon Road in Castlerea.

The fire was brought under control.

Fire Services provided medical first aid to the single occupantwho had evacuated from the building. They then received additional medical assistance from the National Ambulance Service who arrived shortly afterwards.

In a statement, Roscommon Fire Services say Fire Brigade units from Ballaghaderreen, Ballyhaunis and Roscommon town were called to the scene of the fire, which was quickly brought under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, pending a technical examination of the site, which is ongoing...
