An EU-wide windfall tax on the profits of energy companies is expected to be agreed today.

The bloc's energy ministers are meeting in Brussels to try to sign off on the plans.

The emergency summit comes amid soaring energy prices throughout the EU.

Minister Eamon Ryan's attending the meeting - and he said recently there's 'absolute agreement' on the tax, which would claw back excess profits from energy companies.
