An international medical expert, originally from Curry, county Sligo, has spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after receiving death threats arising from his work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Mike Ryan who is Head of Emergencies at the World Health Organisation, is a veteran of many international war zones and says has never been as worried for his safety as he was during the pandemic.
He told an online seminar organised by University College Cork that he probably has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and outlined episodes of having received death threats and being shouted at during the Covid crisis.
