Patients attending Mayo University Hospital should be able to avail of free car parking on the premises.
That's the view of Castlebar councillor Micheal Kilcoyne.
The independent councillor will raise the issue at the next HSE west Forum meeting.
He says that many patients who may be on fixed incomes and have a medical card that covers the cost of such visits, may be paying up to €10 in car parking fees.
Councillor Kilcoyne told Midwest Radio's John Morley that an intervention needs to happen.
