Bank of Ireland is to open a number of branches on Saturdays from October 1 to October 22 to help anyone who wants to set up a new bank account to do so.

Thousands of people have been affected by Ulster Bank and KBC's decision to withdraw from the Irish market.

Bank of Ireland's decision to open 61 branches- which are all located close to a bank that is due to close- is designed to help those who need to switch.

Customers will be able to open new accounts on the day provided they have photo ID and proof of address.
