A Mayo senator is calling for urgent changes to the law to protect people from 'catfishing'.

It's when someone's image or identity is stolen to be used as bait, often on the likes of dating apps, to dupe people into fake relationships, where they may be exploited, or to sell goods online.

Fianna Fail's Lisa Chambers, whose own identity was mis-used as part of a catfishing scam, says the law needs to catch up with what's happening online.
