The Cabinet has approved an 80 cent increase in the national minimum wage.
The rate will be 11 euro and thirty cent an hour from January 2023.
It's part of a move towards a living wage by 2026 which will be set at 60 per cent of the median income in Ireland.
Colette Bennett from Social Justice Ireland says even with the rise, the income for minimum wage workers will still be down by around 2 per cent because of inflation.
She says a proper living wage is needed...
