It’s anticipated that the contract for upgrade works on the N60 between Balla and Claremorris will be awarded imminently.
That’s according to local Fine Gael councillor Cyril Burke, who says a preferred contractor has been selected to carry out the project between the village and The Beaten Path.
The project will take place over a 21 month period and will see a 3.6km road upgrade between Balla and Brize; and it will also include a cycleway from Brize to Heathlawn.
It is also hoped that the works will alleviate problems at the Ardboley and Rathduff junctions.
Councillor Cyril Burke told Midwest News that these works should help realise the Active Travel plans for the area.
