Patients presenting at hospital emergency departments across the region today are experiencing significant delays.

There are 57 patients on trolleys at both University Hospital Galway and Sligo University Hospital, the second highest waiting figures in the country.

There are 8 patients waiting on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital and just 1 patient waiting for admission at Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe.

Nationally, 558 patients are waiting on trolleys, with the highest figures being seen today at University Hospital Limerick, where 60 patients are waiting on trolleys.
