The Mayo Mountain Rescue team were tasked to assist a woman who suffered a fall on Croagh Patrick yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened to the women, in her 30s, at around 12 noon, just below the cone.

The casualty suffered injuries to head, ribs and hip and was in severe pain.

She was assessed by a first response team and warmed up.

When the stretcher party arrived, she was taken down promptly and handed over to the crew of the waiting ambulance.

MMRT have expressed sincere thanks to the two Louisburgh ladies who gave assistance to the casualty, keeping her warm and offering moral support while waiting for the team to arrive.

The team were stood down shortly after 3pm.
