A special farm safety pilot project will be rolled out in Roscommon over the next year.

The project, which is being funded by the Department of Agriculture under the European Innovation Partnership, will build on seven prior initiatives in farm safety.

Those include work on farmers physical health as well as their mental health.

Roscommon is one of only two counties that will see the FarmConnect pilot scheme which will roll out over a 12 month period and involve the development of a scalable national programme to address farmer health and wellbeing in a sustainable manner.
