More Gardai are needed now to relieve the pressure currently facing the force in the Sligo/Leitrim division.
That's according to Councillor Thomas Walsh.
The Fine Gael councillor raised the issue at the most recent meeting of Sligo County Council.
Latest figures show that the division suffered a reduction of almost 6% in personnel last year leaving the force with fewer Gardaí than in 2015.
