A homeless charity in Galway says it dealt with a record number of cases in 2021.
Galway Simon Community published its annual report this afternoon which shows an increase of 26% in the number of households assisted last year compared to 2020.
Supports were provided to 814 unique households, including 246 families, with 563 children.
The charity says it is deeply concerned about the possible impact this may have on the most marginalised in society this winter.
It is calling on the Government to prioritise efforts to mitigate the risk of food and fuel poverty in the forthcoming budget.
