Irish Water and Mayo County Council are working to repair the trunk main burst and restore water as quickly as possible to customers served by the Erris Regional Water Supply Scheme.
Every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst has caused reduced pressure or supply interruptions for customers in a number of areas including Inver/Pollathomas, Barnatra, Muings, Foxpoint, Derrnameel/Derrycorrib and Doohoma/Derrycorrib Group Water Scheme.
Customers in Glencullen, Glenamoy, Doohoma and in the Carrowmore Lake areas may also be affected.
Repairs are expected to be complete by 10pm tonight.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
