A Mayo deputy says families are in despair after the 'return to school', brought with it no transport for their children.

Sinn Fein's Rose Conway-Walsh says she's inundated with calls after the surge in students applying for newly announced 'free' school transport - left many students with none.

The deputy says families in rural areas in particular are now under a huge strain as they scramble to organise alternatives.
