Appointments are available from today for people aged 55 and over to get their next Covid-19 booster vaccine.

Castlebar pharmacist, Ronan Moran, says there’s been big demand from people over 60, to receive a second Covid booster since it was made available to this age cohort since Monday last.

People can register on the HSE Website to receive a second booster. It can be administered in HSE vaccine centres, or in some pharmacies and GP practices.

Anyone over 50 will be able to register for the second Covid jab from next week.

Many are opting to receive their vaccine from their local pharmacist, and Mayo based pharmacist Ronan Moran, of Moran’s Pharmacy, New Antrim St in Castlebar says his practice has been busy administering the second booster vaccine to the over 60 cohort this week.

Ronan, a member of the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) is encouraging anyone eligible to get the second vaccine to do so in an effort to reduce the risk of getting seriously ill from the virus.

He has been telling Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley about the rollout of the second booster vaccine since the start of this week…
