Met Éireann says ten of its weather stations exceeded their maximum temperature records for August during the recent hot spell.
They included five weather stations in this region:
Mount Dillon, Roscommon, on Friday last (12th) recorded a temperature of 29.2 degrees.
Athenry, Galway on the same day hit 28.5 degrees, while the station at Newport, county Mayo recorded the same temperature on the same day.
Markree Castle, Sligo was just below that at 28.3 degrees on Friday last.
Then on Saturday (13th) Mace Head, Galway saw the temperature reaching 27.4 degrees.
