The Teacher's Union of Ireland have joined their colleagues in the INTO and ASTI to ballot members on industrial action over pay.

The Union, which represents 20,500 teachers, is urging the Government to return to the Workplace Relations Commission with what they described as an improved wage proposal that appropriately addresses the current cost-of-living crisis.

President of the TUI Liz Farrell says they are prepared to wait and see if the government moves on the pay issue before balloting members.
