Some of the tress that are being planted by Mayo County Council in our towns and viallges are too big, according to Ballinrobe councillor Patsy O’Brien.

The need to cut back overhanging trees and branches on the streets of towns and villages across the region is of ongoing concern to local communities and the matter is continuously raised by councillors at meetings of Mayo County Council.

Councillor Patsy O'Brien put forward a notice of motion at a recent meeting of the Claremorris- Swinford municipal district about overhanging trees and branches on the roads in the village of Hollymount.

His motion was accepted, and he told Midwest Radio's Alannah Nolan that the work is to get underway shortly….
