Employees at Lidl Ireland will no longer have to adhere to the mandatory retirement age.

The company is giving all employees the option to continue working beyond the current retirement age of 65 which will come into effect in the coming weeks.

 Taoiseach Micheál Martin says major changes to the state pension system are on the way, which will allow employees more flexibility in when they retire and incentivise people to stay in work until they are 70.
