As the government prepares to publish its exchequer returns later today a leading economist says he does not expect the figures to reflect a downturn in the economy.

Tax revenues in May were up by € 1.4 billion, or 18 percent on the same month last year, with the bulk of the increase driven by corporation tax, income tax and VAT.

Economist Jim Power said he does not see figures slipping back in the coming months but expects that to change in early 2023
