Glencastle National School in north Mayo is to proceed to tender for an extension & refurbishment of the existing main school building, along with associated siteworks.

Mayo Fine Gael deputy Alan Dillon says Glencastle National School, Bunnahowen, is proceeding to tender for the construction of single storey extension to the existing building consisting of a new administration facility to the front and a special needs education facility to the rear. Alterations and energy upgrade works will also take place within the existing school building, and the plans also include the installation of a replacement wastewater treatment system, car parking and a bus drop-off point at the school.

Last year the board of management secured planning permission to remove roadside prefabricated accommodation and to demolish a rear standalone special needs education building at the school.
