The Rural Organisation has stated that they are becoming extremely concerned for the future of Rural Ireland as the Emissions Reduction Debate rumbles on.

Following talks between the leaders of the three coalition parties throughout yesterday, sources said there is now a pathway to a deal which could be reached at some time today.

After a number of missed deadlines, there was growing confidence last night that a breakthrough is finally within sight, on an issue that had become one of the most internally divisive since the coalition was formed.

Leader of the Organisation Gerry Loftus stated that “people need to realise that reductions in emissions are now legally binding and must happen.

Mr. Loftus says the solution is to reduce the dairy herd to 2011 levels as we were meeting our targets then.

He has been speaking to Midwest News.
