Sales of lottery tickets went over the 1-billion euro mark for the first time in Ireland last year.

It includes a three month rollover period at the end of 2021, with the jackpot stuck at just over 19-million for most of that time.

Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan, who is a native of Killasser in Mayo, slammed the game at the time, demanding - successfully - for a 'must win' draw to clear the jackpot.
