The next Fianna Fáil leader needs to come from Dublin, according to a former party TD.
Marc MacSharry lost the party whip, after voting against the government following repeated disagreements with Micheál Martin.
The Sligo - Leitrim based Deputy has described the Taoiseach as an autocrat and said Fianna Fáil needs someone new at the top.
He says there should be a limited list - including Jim O'Callaghan, Darragh O'Brien or even Jack Chambers as a dark horse.
