A status yellow high temperature alert has come into effect this morning, with temperatures expected to reach 28 degrees today.

The weather alert runs until Tuesday, when temperatures could peak at 33 degrees.

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather says the hottest weather today will be in the midlands.
