News that grants of up to €1000 towards the cost of contact lenses are to be made available every two years for employed people has been welcomed by Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon.

The scheme will see both employees and the self-employed who require medical contact lenses to be given a grant every two years for the replacement of such.

Previously, this support was provided every 4 years to workers who required lenses for medical reasons, but these changes will see that time period halved.

Deputy Dillon told Midwest News that these changes will take effect immediately for those already availing of the service...
