A review into the scheduled increase of VAT in the hospitality sector needs to take place, according to Galway-West Senator Ollie Crowe.
The government cut the VAT rate from 13.5% to 9% to help the sector recover from two difficult years due to the pandemic.
The cut in VAT means Ireland VAT rate in the hospitality sector is in line with the EU average.
The call comes as many people have been experiencing sky-high prices for hotel rooms across the country with Senator Crowe saying hotels need to do their bit to help Ireland stay attractive in the tourist market.
