Westport Gardai are advising motorists that there will be large traffic delays in the town today for a variety of reasons.

The main road from Newport to Castlebar is closed which will bring extra traffic through the town.

There are two separate stop go systems in place for roadworks on the Castlebar to Westport road.

There is a large funeral in the town of Westport this afternoon which will also lead to traffic congestion in the town.

Gardai are advising motorists coming to Westport today to leave themselves with plenty of time.
