Earlier this week, members of Mayo County Council voted down a proposal to live stream statutory meetings of the authority.
The motion was proposed by Castlebar Fine Gael councillor Donna Sheridan, who says it was a big disappointment that Fianna Fail councillors and others didn't support the motion as ''we are not a secret society.''
Instead, majority of councillors agreed to a proposal made by Fianna Fail Councillor Damien Ryan which involved supplying a video link for meetings, via Microsoft teams, to members of the public who make an application for it.
He says levels of participation need to be recorded and an informed decision needs to be made before spending money on other forms of live streaming.
