A pop-up vaccination centre will open at Mayo Community Living, formerly known as Aras Attracta, in Swinford over the coming weeks. That’s according to the Clinical lead for Vaccinations at Community Healthcare West, Jean Kelly.
The announcement follows the news that the Mayo Vaccination Centre at Breaffy House Resort in Castlebar is set to close this Sunday, as part of a national plan being rolled out by the HSE.
The health service has taken the decision to reduce the number of vaccine centres nationally to just 15 over the next month, due to a large reduction in people presenting at the centres.
The Community Healthcare West Centre at Ballybrit Racecourse in Galway will be the closest permanent centre for people in Mayo.
A number of GP practices and pharmacies in the west will also continue to provide the service.
