Celebrations will take place in Castlebar tomorrow to mark the end of the entity St Patrick’s Boys NS De La Salle, as it will amalgamate with St Angela’s Girls NS to become Castlebar Primary School from September.

The De La Salle Brothers founded St Patrick’s Boys National School in Castlebar town in 1888, 134 years ago.

Tomorrow, to mark its long history with education in the county town, a Mass will be celebrated in The Church of the Holy Rosary Castlebar at 11.30am and everyone is invited to attend.

The day will remember and commemorate the many teachers, students and families associated with education in St Patrick’s.

From September St Patrick’s National School campus will be known as Castlebar Primary School and it will host the senior classes of boys and girls from second to 6th class. The Junior cycle of the school will be located at St Angela’s, from Junior Infants to second class.
