An accountancy apprenticeship scheme is to create 140 jobs in Ireland this year.

The scheme run by Accounting Technicians Ireland is now accepting applicants based in colleges in Galway, Dublin and Waterford.

The apprenticeship is a funded, two-year, work-based programme where workers can earn while they learn.

ATI says the scheme is aimed at young people who feel college is not the right way for them to get into an accounting career.
