Some school children could be without a place in school this September if the government fails to introduce emergency measures to ensure that appropriate spots will be available.

That's according to Sinn Fein, which is set to bring a motion before the summer break calling on government to act.

The party wants Ministers to publish the data on the true number of children without an appropriate place for September and to rule out proposals for special education centres.

Party spokesperson on Education Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire TD said the government has been dragging its feet on the issue.
