It is absolutely crazy that two qualifier games involving three West of Ireland teams are being played in Dublin on Saturday evening.

That is the strong view of former Mayo GAA Chairman Michael Connelly.

Roscommon play Clare in the first round 2 qualifier game at 3:45pm on Saturday evening, while Mayo’s clash with Kildare is set to throw in at 6pm.

The fixture details have been met with outrage by many Mayo supporters on social media, who have cited lack of hotel availability and high prices as obstacles to attending the game.

Michael Connelly says that the Mayo clash could be reorganised as a double header with the minor team's game in Tullamore, while the Roscommon game could be played in Castlebar or Salthill.

The Hollymount Carramore clubman told Midwest News that it is absolutely crazy that these games are being played in Dublin...
