Saoirse Ruane’s mum has revealed that her daughter is ‘back home where she belongs’ and making ‘a remarkable recovery’ nine days after major surgery.
The ten-year-old won the hearts of the nation during her appearance on the 2020 Late Late Toy Show, where she told Ryan Tubridy how her leg was amputated due to cancer.
Fighting cancer for the second time, the Galway youngster had major surgery last week to remove a tumour in her lung. Mum Roseanna shared the update, revealing to friends, family and followers that amazing Saoirse is ‘back home where she belongs.’
Roseanna posted an emotional video on Instagram documenting Saoirse’s return home and shows a non-stop smiling Saoirse returning to her home and the moment Saoirse’s reunites with her little sister Farrah-Rose.
Mum Roseanna said if she never knew the answer to the question, ‘Who is your hero’ she ‘certainly knows now.’ She wrote, ‘It’s been our privilege to sit by your bedside these past few weeks and help you in whatever what you needed.’
Roseanna said that although herself and husband Ollie may be ‘on the sideline’ they are still Saoirse’s ‘biggest cheerleaders.’
They also thanked everyone for the continued love and support.
