€58,500 has been approved for capital works on island infrastructure projects in County Mayo.
The funding will see improvements made to roads, piers and public toilets.
The islands to benefit from this round of funding are:
Claggan Island - €31,500
Dorans Point- Inis Bigil €27,000
The funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development will cover up to 90% of the capital cost for these projects while the local authorities will provide the balance.
This is the latest tranche of capital funding for island infrastructure projects in 2022, with a further funding announcement for other islands expected later in the year.
Mayo Fine Gael Deputy Michael Ring told Midwest News that he is pleased that this investment will help to support our island communities in Mayo for residents and visitors alike.
