Ballyglass Coast Guard Search and Drone Unit team of volunteers were tasked to secure the Helicopter Landing Strip at Blacksod lighthouse at 11:15pm last night.
The Rescue 118 coast guard helicopter was coming in to refuel.
They had been tasked earlier in the day, along with the Achill RNLI Lifeboat, to assist a yacht that had lost all power 35 miles off Achill Head.
The lifeboat crew managed to secure tow lines on the stricken yacht and began tow the vessel back towards Achill.
The lifeboat arrived at Clare Island at 10am this morning, where they found a safe mourning for the yacht.
The lifeboat crew then proceeded to make their way to their own mourning in Achill where they refuelled their boat in preparation for their next call out.
