Pressure is mounting on the government to clarify when this year's leaving cert results will be issued. It has emerged this week that the usual mid August date is likely to be delayed while provision is also being made to hold a deferred sitting of tests in the event students are affected by Covid-19.

The delay in results will have implications on the Central Applications Office who are responsible for the distribution of college places in the country.

Billy Bennett, Vice president for academic affairs at the Atlantic Technological University has told Midwest news reporter Alanah Nolan that a delay in leaving cert results being released would have an effect on third level institutions throughout the country.
