A Mayo county councillor wants to know why visiting restrictions are not being eased at Mayo University Hospital.
Castlebar based Independent councillor Michael Kilcoyne, a member of the HSE West Forum, has submitted a question seeking clarity on the situation from HSE Management .
He says he is inundated with calls from the distraught relatives of patients at Mayo University Hospital, frustrated and upset over their inability to visit their loved ones.
The visiting restrictions in hospitals nationally were introduced in an attempt to contain the spread of Covid 19, and have been in operation throughout the pandemic, but councillor Kilcoyne says most hospitals across the country are now easing the visiting restrictions and he believes Mayo University Hospital should be doing the same.
