There are serious concerns around the safety of the footbridge in Ballinrobe town that runs along the N84 on the Kilmaine road, according to local Fianna Fail councillor Damien Ryan.

The councillor is now calling on Mayo County Council to ensure that all the plans and details are in place and ready to be submitted to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), for a replacement structure.

In addition he says access to the community centre in Kilmaine, another busy location, is a road safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately.

He raised his concerns over both issues at the monthly meeting of the Claremorris –Swinford Municipal Meeting and afterwards spoke to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley about the problem with the present footbridge in the town...
