The Taoiseach is attending the National Famine Commemoration in Co Roscommon this afternoon.

It's taking place in Strokestown, in memory of those who suffered or died during the Great Hunger in the 1840s.

Government chief whip Jack Chambers is also attending the event - along with local senator Eugene Murphy.

The Fianna Fáil senator says it's a very important commemoration.
