The Taoiseach has urged British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to engage in further talks on resolving issues with the Northern Ireland protocol.
During a phone call between the two this morning Micheál Martin said any unilateral action would be destabilising to Northern Ireland.
The Taoiseach stressed the way forward should be through intensified UK-EU engagement.
He told Boris Johnson both Governments need to work together to restore a Government in Northern Ireland.
However, DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson's re-iterated his party's position until their concerns over the protocol are addressed..
